Video was a much-anticipated addition to Blippit Boards in June/July 2024 and it has proven itself already with schools. As hoped, video picks up the slack where photos don't quite manage to capture what's happening and demonstrate progress in quite the same way. Feedback on using video to evidence progress in oracy, music, PE and even assemblies has been so positive.
But, while watching video is easy enough on the app and in the Blippit Dashboard for subject leaders, when it came to running the subject reports, you couldn't get the video in the document for obvious reasons. This was proving to be a barrier as when subject leader meetings and reviews were shared, it was impossible to refer to the video easily.
In 2025, after talks with schools about possible solutions, we upgraded Blippit for all schools. Now, when a report is run and exported as either a PDF or a Word document, all the usual evidence is captured with the addition of a QR code for any videos that are in reported boards. It's a simple and time saving way of working now because all teachers need is a mobile device to scan and watch the video directly with no need to access the Dashboard or app. We think this will increase the value of video on the platform and look forward to seeing the growing use of video accelerate even more.

While QR codes will work when scanned from any device, we advise closely managing the circulation of your QR codes to ensure that the subject(s) of your video is always suitably safeguarded.
